I wonder if Javier Valentin is gone after Ross comes back.

Just thinking out loud

Jeez, I hope not. Bako looks like the 2008 version of Chad Moeller.

Hasn't yet started, but it's knocking on the door.

Rain Delay or cancellation options is obviously limited, but after a quick glance of schedules, both the D-Backs and Reds have Monday, July 7th off. The Reds would have been home on the 6th and then don't have to be into Chicago until the 8th. The D-Backs would have been home on the 6th with an afternoon affair with the Padres and then they have to be in Washington for a 7:10 start on Tuesday the 8th.

A 12:35pm game would work here on July 7th.

They should get the game started, but who knows how many innings they can play. This could have a classic five or six innings written all over it if the heavy stuff can hold off for a bit.

Score early, score often.

The hour-by-hour forecast shows the heavy rain hitting Cincy around 1:00 PM. I'd rather they just wait as opposed to playing the game and then going through a long rain delay.

This is not how to start Johnny Cueto's MLB debut.

That's up to the Reds. I think they are in charge of it until lineups are exchanged and then it's in the hands of the umpires.

Ain't that the truth.

I'm worried they'll start the game and Cueto will throw two perfect innings of course...and then the rains will hit and we'll have to go to the bullpen for the rest of the game.

Did you guys read Hal's blog entry from last night?  He goes on a bit of tangent regarding EE's throwing issues but loved the walk-off.

How dedicated am I? Today is minor league Opening Day so I'm pretty pumped about that. I've checked the weather for all four cities the Reds squads will be playing in tonight and it looks like all four of those games will be played with no problems.

Fay says Cueto can speak and understand some English. From Fay's blog:

Bako caught at least one of Cueto's starts in the spring. Javy was catching the day he didn't get out of the first.

Cueto speaks and undersands English pretty well. He's uncomfortable doing interviews.

He knows enough that I was able to get to tell me that his signing bonus was $3,500.
