Can't get onto the site...did Junior hit 600 or are we all just really excited about the draft?

Anybody else having trouble?

I can't get in either, and I'm certainly not excited about the draft.   Alonso over Beckham?  Yuck.

I do have to wonder about the Reds' pick.  Another 1B?  The guys on ESPN said that Alonso is a high OBP/SLG guy, so he should be the prototypical sabermetric hitter.

I just wonder if this signals the end of Adam Dunn in Cincy?  Votto moves to LF?

This doesn't make sense.  I would have gone with Gordon Beckham or the pitcher from Missouri.

While in theory I always applaud picking the best player available regardless of position -- in other words, don't consider your current major league team makeup -- I think a college age left-handed first baseman is pushing it a bit for this team.  Especially since you certainly can argue that he wasn't the best player available.

I certainly hope he's charming.

I'm guessing a lot of the minor league forum guys went nuts when the Alonso pick was announced.

I can only imagine the "stupid a$$ pick" posts that are or will be flying around today.

Perhaps they feel Votto is going to get very expensive by the time Alonso is ready.
