Griffey trade has Redszone down for me.

It's taking a while to load for me as well. I suspect its on the verge of crashing completely.

Won't load at all, though I hadn't tried in about 45 minutes (damn work getting in the way).

It is down for me too and I think it is losing some posts.

By the way this is latest update from Heyman at SI about a Dunn trade.

Quote
The Rays' superb play has surprised them a bit, so they didn't expect to be buyers at the trade deadline. They hoped to contend by 2009 or perhaps '10. The Rays appear to be adjusting to their new role as trade-deadline buyers, but with Jason Bay possibly going to Boston in the Manny Ramirez deal, it appears that Adam Dunn may be their best shot. It is believed the Reds are seeking some of the Rays' vaunted young pitching, including Jeff Niemann and Jeremy Hellickson. Tampa has refused to include big shortstop prospect Reid Brignac in the Bay deal. So presumably he'd be off-limits as well for Dunn, who's lefthanded and doesn't fit Tampa quite as well.

Does anyone have any input on the two guys we're allegedly getting in return for Griffey?  Nick Masset and Danny Richar are the names in the original thread.  It looks like Richar has put up some decent numbers with some power potential in the minors.  Someone mentioned that Masset is a power arm with some control issues.  If it's just Griffey and money coming from us, this seems like a decent return.  I'm happier with this than Anderson.

Richar's a middle infielder with an ok stick it appears; I have no idea how good he is defensively. He turned 25 in early June so it wouldn't be surprising if he's up with the Reds at some point this season, even if it's in September. I don't know if he'll be good enough to start, but depending on the glove he could have some value as a backup.

Masset has control problems, and I don't think many White Sox fans cared for him. He supposedly has decent stuff, but the control problems are holding him back.

All things considered, I'm not disappointed if this is what we got for strictly Griffey ... because honestly I expected less.

I didn't expect him to be moved.  I'm surprised there was any interest.

The Reds got this year's versions of Andy Machado and Marc Kroon.  They should be doing more than making deals to facilitate the careers of HOFers.

Gotta keep the radio booth guys happy too, I expect them to have a party now

I like the deal, JR is outta here at the end of the season anyway.
